TSIA was created in 1995 to fight for Inspection station owners when the state eliminated the inspection station program and attempted to consolidate all inspections under one vendor. When that program ultimately failed, TSIA worked with the Legislature and the regulatory agencies to establish a program that worked for Texans. The Association has continued to operate with membership, made up of a handful of the larger station owners in the state, and continued to successfully defend the inspection program in Texas. Today, interest groups are trying to eliminate the inspection program in Texas and TSIA is working hard to defend it.
